| The car storage, testing, and office facility for Environment Canada involved the construction of a new 67,000 ft², 2-storey structural steel facility plus a link to the existing building. The facility was constructed in 3 phases. The structural elements were detailed to allow for the future vertical expansion of the building as well as the incorporation of new mezzanine areas. An excellent relationship with the building owners, consultants, and contractors, as well as, quality lines of communication were required during the project as changing user demands required the modification of a variety of structural elements during the course of construction. Total construction cost was $6,700,000.
