The 20,000 ft2 facility is used for patient treatment, office space and incorporates a shielded bunker used for the preparation of radioactive isotopes. The building is a 6-storey (plus basement) reinforced concrete slab and concrete shear wall structure constructed adjacent to the existing Hospital facility. The project also involved extensive modifications to existing structural elements in order to accommodate new program requirements. Structural details and construction methodologies were carefully developed to ensure that there were minimal impacts on the occupants of the existing facility. The total construction cost was $6,000,000.
